You have probably heard that anything you can imagine can be printed out with a 3D printer, and that it’s possible to scan real life objects and turn them into digital models? Sounds interesting? At our two day workshop about 3D scan and 3D printing we will show you how it’s done.
The workshop is two days long, and consists of lectures and practical work:
The first day is dedicated to 3D scanning. At the lectures you will hear about different kinds and technologies of 3D scanning depending on the requirement for which the scan is done. In the practical part of the workshop you will find out how you can do your own 3D scan without the use of expensive equipment. Together we will scan the demonstrative using the photogrammetry technique, and then we will show you various techniques for editing the scanned object for further stages of production.
The second day of the workshop is dedicated to 3D printing. At the lectures you will hear about the newest technologies for 3D printing, and various types of materials used for 3D printing, from industry requirements, over hobby printing as well as applications in the medical field. In the practical part of the workshop you’ll find out what is the technical requirements which a 3D model has to meet, for it to be able to be 3D printed, how to prepare a scanned model for 3D printing and how to adjust an existing 3D model to the criteria of 3D printing. After that we’re going to play with the 3D printer and get a tangible final result.

The workshop is useful to both candidates that have no experience as well as candidates that already had experience with 3D scanning and/or printing. Candidates that have no experience will find out how it’s done, and what are the fields they need to learn, or improve in, to be able to do 3D printing and scanning, while the candidates with prior experience will get the chance to improve their processes with techniques we will show to them.
The course will be held at the newly furnished Media Lab training center located at Kralja Petra I Karađorđevića 14. All pupils will be provided with a PC with the adequate software in our training center, all you need to do is come motivated! The workshop is two days long and consists of lectures and practical excercises.
